Our adventure to the allotment…….
Today the children enjoyed a visit to our allotment which is just a short walk away from nursery, the children excitedly talked about what they could see and hear along the way – a firm favourite was the police cars and vans parked outside the police station.
Once at the allotment the children took in all the sights, scents and textures of the growing fruits, vegetables and flowers – rhubarb, strawberries, leeks, cabbages and daffodils.
The children carried their bags with pride, looked for different things within the environment, talked about how different things grow and had a good dig around to look for different minibeasts which fits in perfectly with our childrens current fascination.
Having an allotment enables us to be able to
~Connect with nature
~Understand how things grow
~Understand where the fruit and vegetables we eat grow
~Aids physical and mental well-being
“i am learning to look caredfully at the world around me”
“i am learning to notice some of the features of things in my immediate environment”
“i am learning to ask questions and make comments about the world around me”
