Every Monday afternoon the children at Kirkgate Childcare go over to The Old Girls School to spend some time with the visitors of The Memory Café.
The Memory Café is for people with Memory problems, Brain Injuries, Dementia and Alzheimer’s. It is a social afternoon where visitors can sit and have a chat with a fun activity or participate in a game of dominoes whilst enjoying a hot drink
This week some of the children enjoyed sitting with the visitors for a chat with a drink and a biscuit whilst some of the older children were taught how to play dominoes and pick up sticks, all finished off with a sing along.
The children gain so much from these visits and what started of as a visit to do some singing together has evolved into so much more from playing games that some children may not have had an opportunity to play before, to enjoying time with people with different life experiences and teaching each other new songs.
