Not only do we do follow the EYFS and your children’s FLAGS but we also ensure the children are exposed to many wonderful opportunities to get out in the local community, every week we visit Hilltop Manor Care Home for our voices together session where we sing nursery rhymes and traditional songs like “daisy daisy and I’m forever blowing bubbles” the children and residents alike look forward to these visits, Thursdays have definitely become the highlight of the week!
We are now happy to announce that alongside our care home visit we have been invited to the Memory Cafe each Monday at The Old Girls School where the children will be able to do more singing , listen to the piano and have a chance to chat, to the elderly last week was our first session and it was a big success.
It’s clear that both generations benefit from spending time together and seeing the children gives many of the residents a great deal of happiness.
The children benefit from gaining knowledge about the older generation and learning about different people who make up the community.
Both of these weekly visits bridge the gap between older and younger generations, giving a greater understanding between them both.
The children often talk fondly about the residents in the home to their parents and us when they get back to the nursery… some even get upset if it not their turn to visit Hilltop that week.
If you would like to help out on a Thursday at all please speak to your child’s key practitioner, parent helpers are always welcome
